‘Batteries and their Applications’
Paul Riley
Paul is a former Honorary Professor at City University London. He led the group that certified the first on-engine UK civil computer control system; the Rolls-Royce 535E4. As a main board director of Ramtech he championed profit increase in battery operated burglar alarms for caravans. At City, he dedicated himself to Electric Formula Student, a battery powered racing car.
He will talk about why the most expensive lithium battery can be the cheapest, why lead acid is out of favour, and how a 19 seater 150 mile battery powered aircraft can compete with railways on cost and environmental impact.
