Training Dates, Rates and Application Forms

The dates and prices for the 2019 training courses are as follows:-

 

Basic Training Part 1 – Setting up a Workshop

  • Day 1: Saturday 9th February 2019
  • Day 2: Saturday 9th March 2019
  • Day 3: Saturday 13th April 2019
  • COST: £200 for SMEE members, £250 for non SMEE member
  • Now accepting applications

Grinding Course

  • Saturday 27th April 2019 
  • COST: £80  SMEE members only
  • Now accepting applications

Basic Training Part 2 – Building a Simple Steam Engine (“The Polly Course”)

  • Day 1: Saturday 18th May 2019
  • Day 2: Saturday for 15th June 2019
  • Day 3: Saturday 13th July 2019
  • Day 4: Saturday 14th September 2019
  • Day 5: Saturday 12th October 2019
  • Day 6: Saturday 16th November 2019
  • COST: £325 for SMEE members, £385 for non SMEE members
  • Now accepting applications.

Whilst Basic Training Part 1 and Part 2 courses are independent, it is recommended that those new to the hobby attend both courses as the “Polly” course is designed to follow on from the Part 1 course.  Membership of the Society is not a requirement for enrolment in either course, however there are many benefits to joining the Society .  Non-members may also attend the Milling Course.   

Milling Course

  • Saturday 28th September 2019
  • COST: £80 for SMEE members, £90 for non-members

All courses start promptly at 09:30 a.m., with coffee and tea available from 09:00 a.m.

The lunch break will usually be 12:30 – 13:30.  There is a local café or delegates may bring packed lunches.

Time is allocated for a final discussion session on all days.  Courses finish between 17:00 and 18.00, depending on the course.
