11:00 / 13:00

Turbo-generators are the main focus for this months discussions.

We’ll start off by looking at a miniature steam turbo-generator that was designed to power the riding lights on typically  5 in gauge steam locomotives.   Bob Walker will be discussing the tooling used by a long departed fellow member of Malden and District MES’ with a particular focus on the electrical generation aspects.   Mike Tilby hopes to join us on line to offer advice about the challenges of extracting power from small scale steam turbines.

For the second part of the meeting, Jerry Burchell will be discussing the challenges he’s been facing in designing and building his 5 inch gauge gas turbo-generator powered locomotive.

Finally, we’ll take a look at work on the table and discuss the topics for future meetings.

As usual, the meeting will be open to distant members wishing to join in our discussions on line.   The URL for joining the meeting has been e-mailed to members

The proceedings will also be video recorded and made available, together with relevant notes, on the SMEE website a few weeks after the meeting.
